Born in DC and raised nearby in Maryland, Adam Brockett is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurobiology at the University of New Hampshire and a photographer on the side. Adam grew up in and around DC and has always loved the contrast between the monuments and surrounding city. In DC, no matter where you are you can almost always glimpse the Washington Monument or US Capitol, a theme Adam often plays with in his photography.
Ironically, when he was younger, Adam was not much of a photographer. He discovered photography while working on his PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience at Princeton University in 2015. Starting out as mostly an escape from the stress of research, Adam began exploring Princeton's campus and later New York City focusing on black and white photography.
When he moved back to the DC area to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland in 2017, he brought photography with him and began exploring DC. A conversation with his Dad, a lifelong photographer, led him to start playing with color, and expanded his focus to capturing the early morning hours in and around DC often with his Dad.
Now based in New Hampshire, Adam still travels back to DC frequently to make photos and catch up with friends and family.
