Born in Rome and raised between Italy and the Philippines, John Michael is a self-taught travel, landscape, and car photographer currently studying mechanical engineering. His journey with photography began in middle school, sparked by a desire to capture the moments he lived. Remembering things has always mattered to him — and photography quickly became the most natural way to hold onto those memories. From smartphone snapshots to carrying a camera everywhere he went, documenting life became a quiet habit.
Today, that habit has evolved into a passion driven by perspective — showing the world not just what he sees, but how he sees it. His eye is drawn to angles and atmospheres that don’t always follow the rules, but that’s part of the charm. “Sometimes it’s unconventional,” he says, “but that’s just how my brain works.”
He began with a cinematic, moody aesthetic, but his photography has grown into something warmer and more vibrant, without losing its emotional depth. Whether shooting wide landscapes, winding roads, or everyday moments in unfamiliar places, he wants his viewers to feel like they were there with him — to share the sense of wonder he felt in that instant. A few years ago, he picked up an old Sony A6000, and it’s still the camera he trusts today. He prefers zoom lenses for their flexibility — allowing him to shift perspectives quickly while traveling, staying present and responsive to whatever the moment brings. For him, photography is more than a visual craft — it's a language.
“When words fall short, I shoot — one frame, one feeling, one frozen moment.”
