Born and raised in London, Ryan Howard studied film and photography for five years before taking it up full-time. Known for his moody London landscapes, Ryan’s work also explores other scenes of his native city, such as studies on the reflection of its architecture in water and on the London Underground.
Developing a large following on Instagram and creating a name for himself, he has photographed campaigns for some of the world's biggest brands including Bose, Starbucks, Huawei and Sony. He has also directed commercials for Wella Hair, including 2018’s Shockwaves campaign which aired on European TV. Other clients include Dorothy Perkins, Universal Music, Nokia, M&S Saatchi and ITV.
“I like dark, moody days. Dark grey skies, clouds, I don’t like sun, I don’t like sunsets, I don’t like sunrises. I don’t like colour,” the artist shares with a sly smile that gives credence to the versatility of his roster of work.
Ryan's work is featured in the award-winning Trope London, the second volume in the Trope City Editions series.
