Born in Yokohama and now based in Tokyo, Yoshiro Ishii started shooting video as a film student but later shifted his focus to photography. While his earlier images feature the city’s celebrated architecture, over time he developed a fascination for the people who live there and their unique stories. Tokyo and its residents continue to inspire Yoshiro and drive him to capture their collectively unique spirit, where modern living merges with tradition and order.

Yoshiro shoots with a Canon 5D3 and a Leica M10, as well as his iPhone. Noting that the iPhone can be used in places where a camera often cannot go, he likes the range of results he can get from the different equipment. He primarily uses Lightroom to edit, occasionally dabbling in Photoshop where it serves his purpose.
