Having lived and worked in Tokyo all his life, it’s no surprise that Yoshito Hasaka would choose to feature the city as both backdrop and star in his vivid, electrifying photography. A master of crafting original and imaginative atmospheres, Yoshito strives to blur the lines and distance between fantasy and reality. Through the lens of his camera we see a colorful and futuristic interpretation of the world, brought to life by his vibrant compositions and meticulous post-production edits. His art has evolved with his interests, shifting from Tokyo’s architecture to more of a focus on what he sees happening in the moments around him.
With a background in graphic and web design, Yoshito wore many creative hats before leaving to establish his own company. He now guides his clients in brand strategy, art direction and service design. While photography remains a hobby, he finds that it influences and enhances his creativity and skills as an art director in countless ways.
Yoshito’s work is featured in Trope Tokyo, the fourth volume in the Trope City Editions series, which showcases the quiet traditionalism and sleek futurism of one of the world’s greatest cities.
