John’s journey to becoming a photographer was not linear. In high school, he signed up for a photography class to fulfill a requirement, shot on film for one semester, then put the camera down. Eight years later, he picked up a DSLR and the rest, as they say, is history. John fuels his creativity by constantly working to perfect his craft. He finds inspiration in walking the streets of Chicago, exploring new areas and taking “the scenic route” whenever he is out. Chicago’s rich heritage, evident in its people, neighborhoods, scenery and seasons, drives him to continue his explorations and celebrations of the city.
John typically shoots with a Nikon D810. His goal is straightforward: to capture a point in time using what’s available in that moment, looking for unique compositions and using light and shadow to the best advantage.
