Neal Kumar

Neal Kumar is a photographer, doctor, and entrepreneur originally from North Carolina, now based in Boston. Neal’s photography frequently features city and neighborhood scenes from his many travels, showcasing the charms and personality unique to each location. He often finds himself taking photos in these historic neighborhoods without a plan or even a specific destination, happily getting lost as he wanders and admires the streets and residences.

Neal particularly loves shooting in Tokyo, with its winding alleys and vibrant night lights. Given the city's density and constant motion, he often likes to shoot the same frame several times, each time capturing a unique moment. Neal also teaches photography and has led photo tours to Japan, given talks with brands like Apple, and written numerous guides and articles.

“Some of my favorite shots in Tokyo involved small alleyways, colorful city lights, or classic-style taxis. The city is densely populated, which makes shooting a scene challenging. I would often shoot the same frame several times, capturing a different moment each time.”
