The Trope team was thrilled to celebrate the publication of The Salt Shed: The Transformation of a Chicago Landmark on Tuesday, September 24, at the Three Top Lounge at The Salt Shed. Photographer and author Sandra Steinbrecher welcomed a group of over 100 friends, family, and colleagues in the beautiful 3rd floor space and roof deck overlooking the iconic outdoor music venue and the Chicago River.
The event began with a welcome from Sam Landers, Trope’s Publisher and Editor, who recollected the genesis of the book project and remarked on Sandra’s stunning photography. The evening continued with Sandra in conversation with Mary McKeen, who handles Special Projects for Salt Shed. They engaged the audience with Sandra’s behind-the-scenes stories of the building’s reconstruction and how she was able to capture such engaging images. She also gave a special thank you to the tradespeople who made her time on the site so memorable, many of whom were at the party.
Following the talk, Sandra took time to sign books for attendees.
The response to The Salt Shed has been overwhelming, with positive coverage from the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago magazine, WGN, and more.
The party was supported by Blue Star Properties, 16” on Center, Blue Sky MC, Inc., Trope Publishing, plus an exceptional group of anonymous donors.
The Salt Shed is available now.
