Last Wednesday, we had the honor of bringing together photographers, authors, friends, family, and members of the Chicago creative community for an evening celebrating eight years of Trope Publishing. It was a chance to celebrate our artists and books, as well as the people who have helped shape the company along the way.
Since the publication of Trope Chicago in 2018, the Trope City Edition series has grown to 12 books, and we’ve had the opportunity to work with more than 200 photographers, writers, artists, and organizations on projects around the world. We’re now working toward our 100th book—something that felt worth pausing to celebrate with the people who have been part of the journey.

A central part of the evening was taking a moment to recognize the artists whose work fills the pages of Trope books. We were thrilled to have so many of them with us, including Graham Chapman, Nenad Spasojevic, David Lee Csicsko, Sandy Steinbrecher, Daniel Schindler, Daniel Moreno, John Slivka, Jason Lumsden, Adam Pearson, Ronnie Frey, Samantha Heeley, Anthony Mance, Ben Geier, and Lisa Bowman.
The gallery brought together a selection of photographs from across the Trope catalog, with every print on display featured in one of our books. Guests could take a closer look at the work, meet the artists behind the images, and purchase prints and books throughout the evening.
More than anything, the night was a chance to spend time with the people who make Trope what it is. We’re incredibly grateful to our photographers, authors, artists, collaborators, friends, and supporters for being part of the past eight years—and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us.
Here’s to the next 100 books.
