Trope Washington, DC at America’s 250th

Trope Washington, DC at America’s 250th

When we are working on the Trope City Edition series, we’re always asked the same question: What city is next? We’ve travelled the world from Chicago to London, Rome to Tokyo, and now, with our tenth volume in the series, to Washington, DC.

The timing wasn't an accident.

We knew early on that we wanted to mark this milestone with a book that felt significant, not just to us, but to the moment. America's 250th birthday falls this year, and releasing Trope Washington, DC in the weeks leading up to the 4th of July felt like the most appropriate time to share our latest City Edition.

Washington, DC is a city that carries more symbolic weight per square mile than almost anywhere else in the United States. The monuments and memorials along the National Mall, the marble staircases and worn stone steps, the quiet corners of neighborhoods that predate the republic itself. We wanted to capture the iconic landmarks and buildings, as well as the everyday streets and activities from a local’s perspective in this tenth edition, and that’s what we went looking for.

Trope Washington, DC features 233 photographs from 15 photographers, each showcasing their work from their own unique perspectives. Washington, DC, is home to over 700,000 residents and is a major destination for national and international tourism, welcoming more than 15 million visitors each year. Showcasing both the historical grandeur and quiet elegance of the city from the Lincoln Memorial at dawn, to the detailed work on the U.S. Capitol Building, to the colorful houses of Georgetown, Trope Washington, DC celebrates the architecture and urban landscape of the nation’s capital.
