Last month we were excited to welcome Judit Prat Martí, photographer of Chicago in Color, back to Chicago to promote her new book with a bookstore signing, walking tour, pop-up gallery exhibit, and several media interviews.
In partnership with the University of Chicago, the school's Chicago Studies program hosted a pop-up gallery featuring images from the book at their Urban Lounge. Geared towards faculty, staff, and students at the University, the exhibit introduced a new audience to Judit's minimalist photography that highlights Chicago in a new and colorful way.
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Judit led a guided walk of the Pullman neighborhood titled "Pullman in Color." The walk highlighted the locations in the neighborhood that appear in book and also included a hands-on component where attendees took their own photos in Judit's unique style.
Judit also appeared in conversation with Casey Breen and Luke Joyner from the Universtity of Chicago's Architectural Studies program at the Seminary Coop bookstore. Following a lively and engaging conversation, including questions from the audience, Judit signed copies of her book for attendees.
Before she returned to her current home in Stockholm, Sweden, Judit was interviewed by Marc Vitali for WTTW PBS and by Web Behrens for Block Club Chicago on how Chicago in Color came to life and her perspective on Chicago. Read the full Q&A with WTTW here.
